Equity and Reconciliation Committee

Equitty and Reconciliation Comittee (ERC) is a national commission for “truth, equity and reconciliation”, created in pursuance of a Royal decision: His Majesty the King Mohammed VI approved the institution of this commission the 7th of January 2004, and proceeded with the nomination of its members.

The creation of the ERC was decided further to a recommendation made by the Human Rights Consultative Committee.

The ERC has competence for the regulation of the blatant violations of the Human Rights that occurred in the past, by investigating, evaluating, arbitrating, researching and presenting recommendations and proposals.

The missions of the ERC are:

The establishment of the truth, by determining the nature and the scale of the past violations of the Human Rights

The pursuance of the investigations concerning the cases of forced disappearances, that  have not been cleared up

The establishment of the responsibility of the State organs, or any other parties, involved  in the perpetration of these violations

The elaboration of a report containing the results of the investigations and the analysis of  these violations and their context

The proposition of material indemnification for social rehabilitation and any other kind of appropriate compensation for the victims of these violations
