 From now on, telephone numbers will have 10 digits in Morocco

The National Agency For the Regulation of Telecommunications has the honour to inform you that the Moroccan phone numbering will change from 9 to 10 digits,  on March 7, 2009 (Saturday) at 2.00 am GMT.

The new plan

At the national level

Domestic calls:

·        Toward landline numbers presently starting with 02 or 03

replace 02 by 052 / 03 by 053

Example:

0 2X XX XX XX               become                  0 5 2X XX XX XX

0 3X XX XX XX               become                  0 5 3X XX XX XX
 

·        Toward mobile phone numbers presently starting with 01, 04, 05, 06 or 07

replace 01 by 061/ 04 by 064/ 05 by 065/ 06 by 066/ 07 by 067

Example:

                      0 1X XX XX XX                  become                  0 6 1X XX XX XX

                      0 4X XX XX XX                  become                  0 6 4X XX XX XX

                      0 5X XX XX XX                  become                  0 6 5X XX XX XX

                      0 6X XX XX XX                  become                  0 6 6X XX XX XX

                      0 7X XX XX XX                  become                  0 6 7X XX XX XX

·        Toward numbers presently starting with 08 or 09

replace 08 by 080 / 09 by 089

Example:

                       0 8X XX XX XX                 become                  0 8 0X XX XX XX

                       0 9X XX XX XX                 become                  0 8 9X XX XX XX

International calls (when you telephone from Japan to Morocco for example):

·        Toward landline numbers presently starting with +2122 or +2123

dial 5 between the country code 212 and 2 / 212 and 3

Example:

+212 2X XX XX XX               become                +212 5 2X XX XX XX

+212 3X XX XX XX               become                +212 5 3X XX XX XX
 

·        Toward mobile phone numbers presently starting with +2121, +2124, +2125, +2126 or +2127

dial 6 between 212 and 1 / 212 and 4 / 212 and 5 / 212 and 6 / 212 and 7

Example:

                   +212 1X XX XX XX                  become                  +212 6 1X XX XX XX

                   +212 4X XX XX XX                  become                  +212 6 4X XX XX XX

                   +212 5X XX XX XX                  become                  +212 6 5X XX XX XX

                   +212 6X XX XX XX                  become                  +212 6 6X XX XX XX

                   +212 7X XX XX XX                  become                  +212 6 7X XX XX XX

·        Toward numbers presently starting with +2128 or +2129

replace 8 by 80 and 9 by 89

Example:

                    +212 9X XX XX XX                 become                  +212 8 9X XX XX XX

NB:

  Special numbers with 2 or 3 digits remain unchanged

  This numbering change will have no incidence on the present rating
